Axon Diameter Mapping in the Living Human Brain with Ultra‐High‐Gradient Diffusion MRI at 500 mT/m Gradient Strength

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 8, June 1, 2026.
Ultra‐high‐gradient diffusion MRI (500 mT/m) enables more accurate in vivo axon diameter mapping, detecting smaller fibers with reduced bias and improved repeatability compared to 300 mT/m and showing promise as a microstructural imaging biomarker for development, aging, and disease. ABSTRACT Pushing the resolution limit of axon diameter mapping in the

Hydrological Evolution of a Small Watershed Over Nearly a Century of Pumping

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
The results show that climate and pumping interacted to influence subsurface storage changes in Bertrand Creek Watershed, while aquifer to stream discharge and streamflow declined significantly due to pumping. It also highlights the 1970s as a tipping point in the watershed, marked by significant hydrological change, mostly due to the introduction of ...

Development and validation of a novel pulse optimization and beam control system for conventional and ultra high dose‐per‐pulse (FLASH) irradiation

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Background FLASH radiotherapy requires precise control and minimal variation of dose per pulse (DPP). However, clinical linear accelerators and their beam control systems are designed to ensure accuracy of the temporally integrated dose and do not control for transient variations in DPP during radiation delivery.
