Proteome sequencing goes deep [PDF]
Advances in mass spectrometry (MS) have transformed the scope and impact of protein characterization efforts. Identifying hundreds of proteins from rather simple biological matrices, such as yeast, was a daunting task just a few decades ago. Now, expression of more than half of the estimated ∼20,000 human protein coding genes can be confirmed in record

Deep Reinforcement Learning for Sequence-to-Sequence Models [PDF]
In recent times, sequence-to-sequence (seq2seq) models have gained a lot of popularity and provide state-of-the-art performance in a wide variety of tasks such as machine translation, headline generation, text summarization, speech to text conversion, and image caption generation.

Making sense of deep sequencing [PDF]
This review, the first of an occasional series, tries to make sense of the concepts and uses of deep sequencing of polynucleic acids (DNA and RNA). Deep sequencing, synonymous with next-generation sequencing, high-throughput sequencing and massively parallel sequencing, includes whole genome sequencing but is more often and diversely applied to ...

Predicting antibody binders and generating synthetic antibodies using deep learning
The antibody drug field has continually sought improvements to methods for candidate discovery and engineering. Historically, most such methods have been laboratory-based, but informatics methods have recently started to make an impact.

Deep Sequencing of Chicken microRNAs [PDF]
The use of new, deep sequencing technologies has greatly accelerated microRNA discovery. We have applied this approach to the identification of chicken microRNAs and to the comparison of microRNAs in chicken embryo fibroblasts (CEF) infected with Marek's disease virus (MDV) to those present in uninfected CEF.We obtained 125,463 high quality reads that ...

RNA Editing and Its Roles in Plant Organelles
RNA editing, a vital supplement to the central dogma, yields genetic information on RNA products that are different from their DNA templates. The conversion of C-to-U in mitochondria and plastids is the main kind of RNA editing in plants. Various factors

Deep Sequencing of 10,000 Human Genomes [PDF]
AbstractWe report on the sequencing of 10,545 human genomes at 30-40x coverage with an emphasis on quality metrics and novel variant and sequence discovery. We find that 84% of an individual human genome can be sequenced confidently. This high confidence region includes 91.5% of exon sequence and 95.2% of known pathogenic variant positions.
