Novel UWB Microstrip Antenna Structures with Defected Ground Structure

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2018
<p>This paper presents the design of new compact printed antennas for Ultra Wide Band applications, fed with a microstrip-line. The proposed designs consist of a patch antenna with defected ground, which are fed by 50Ω microstrip transmission line. The frequency range is 3.1-10.6 GHz which is the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) band of UWB.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

A Defected Ground Structure without Ground Contact Problem and Application to Branch Line Couplers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2013
A new defected ground structure (DGS) microstrip line that is free from the ground contact problem is described together with its application example. The proposed DGS microstrip line adopts a double-layered substrate.

Empowering the Democratic Resistance in Syria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When the peaceful uprising in Syria started in spring 2011 turned into an armed resistance after a few months in the face of savage repression by the Assad regime. Since then, the activists who picked up arms became dependent on support in money and arms

Study of solid 4He in two dimensions. The issue of zero-point defects and study of confined crystal

open access: yes, 2012
Defects are believed to play a fundamental role in the supersolid state of 4He. We report on studies by exact Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations at zero temperature of the properties of solid 4He in presence of many vacancies, up to 30 in two ...

Confinement of electrons in size modulated silicon nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Based on first-principles calculations we showed that superlattices of periodically repeated junctions of hydrogen saturated silicon nanowire segments having different lengths and diameters form multiple quantum well structures.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

RFID Tag Design Using Spiral Resonators and Defected Ground Structure [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2017
This paper presents a simple generalized approach to design a compact chipless radio frequency identification tag. The proposed chipless tag encodes data into the spectral signature using a set of spiral resonators on both sides of substrate ...

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.
