Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Asthma control in patients receiving inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting beta2-agonist fixed combinations. A real-life study comparing dry powder inhalers and a pressurized metered dose inhaler extrafine formulation

open access: yes, 2011
Background Although patients have more problems using metered dose inhalers, clinical comparisons suggest they provide similar control to dry powder inhalers.

Cross-resistance to antibiotics of Escherichia coli in the inpatient installation of general regional hospital “X” Bali, Indonesia

open access: yesPharmaciana
Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a critical-priority group of MDR bacteria and its spread can occur in hospital inpatient settings. Several studies showed that antibiotics consumption for inpatients can cause E.

Prognostic Model of Microbial Resistance Based on the Relationship between Antibiotic Resistance and Consumption [PDF]

open access: yesКлиническая микробиология и антимикробная химиотерапия, 2016
Acquired bacterial resistance is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality attributed to infectious diseases. Simulations may provide opportunity to predict further spread of resistance and, to some extent, manage it.

Aquaporin‐3 and aquaporin‐5 impact the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma spheroids

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the role of aquaporin‐3 (AQP3) and aquaporin‐5 (AQP5) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Both proteins are upregulated in PDAC and are associated with tumor progression and metastatic potential. Silencing AQP3 or AQP5 in PDAC spheroids results in decreased diameter, area, and overall growth, underscoring their key ...

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

THE USE OF HORMONES DURING THE PERIMENOPAUSAL PERIOD IN SLOVENIA

open access: yesZdravniški Vestnik, 2003
Background. We want to collect data on the use of hormone therapy (HT) in perimenopausal women in Slovenia. These data were to serve as the basis for evaluation of the most frequently prescribed HT, and of the distribution of prescriptions by Slovene ...
