Canine echinococcosis: genetic diversity of Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto (s.s.) from definitive hosts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Canids, particularly dogs, constitute the major source of cystic echinococcosis (CE) infection to humans, with the majority of cases being caused by Echinococcus granulosus (G1 genotype).

Designing Vanadium‐Based Oxide Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting: Experimental and Mechanistic Insights with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes structure‐property‐mechanism relationships across six modification strategies for V‐based oxide water‐splitting electrocatalysts: lattice engineering, heteroatom doping, interface engineering, carbon‐based hybridization, morphology engineering, and surface reconstruction and pre‐catalyst design, where dissolution is reframed as ...

Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

Angiostrongylus spp. in the Americas: Geographical and chronological distribution of definitive hosts versus disease reports

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Angiostrongyliasis is an infection caused by nematode worms of the genus Angiostrongylus. The adult worms inhabit the pulmonary arteries, heart, bronchioles of the lung, or mesenteric arteries of the caecum of definitive host.

From Bulk to Colloidal Nanocrystals: Top‐Down Synthesis of Highly Luminescent Cs2ZrCl6:Te4+ Double Perovskite Nanocrystals for X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Top‐down ultrasonication produces highly emissive Cs2ZrCl6:Te4+ nanocrystals (NCs) with a PLQY of 65%, which is higher compared to that of the NCs synthesized by typical bottom‐up hot‐injection synthesis. The colloidal Cs2ZrCl6:Te4+ NCs have been found to be potential candidates for x‐ray scintillation imaging.

Diphyllobothrium stemmacephalum infections in harbor porpoises (Phocoena Phocoena) in German waters

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Parasites and Wildlife
Harbor porpoises (Phocoena) are definitive hosts for intestinal Diphyllobothrium sp. cestodes, zoonotic parasites with a heterogeneous life cycle and fishes as second intermediate hosts.

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Protein‐Nanoarchitectures for Low‐Field Intracellular Electro‐Immunomodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DHQ‐SDH‐mediated binding of AuNPs drives the formation of interconnected, chain‐like nanoarchitectures with enhanced electrical conductivity. These conductive assemblies undergo macrophage uptake and enable low‐field electrical stimulation, promoting M1‐to‐M2 phenotypic switching with decreased iNOS and increased CD206 expression. Such protein‐mediated
