Racial/ethnic differences in neuropsychological test performance in frontotemporal degeneration

open access: yesAlzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring
BACKGROUND Racial and/or ethnic differences in neuropsychological test performance are understudied in frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) but their identification is critical to identifying ways to improve care of representative FTD populations.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Sympathetic activity is correlated with satellite cell aging and myogenesis via β2-adrenoceptor

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2021
Background and objective Sympathetic activity plays an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells, and it changes over time, thereby exerting differential effects on various stem cell types.

Intravitreal Administration of Human Bone Marrow CD34+ Stem Cells in a Murine Model of Retinal Degeneration. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PurposeIntravitreal murine lineage-negative bone marrow (BM) hematopoietic cells slow down retinal degeneration. Because human BM CD34+ hematopoietic cells are not precisely comparable to murine cells, this study examined the effect of intravitreal human

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Aged skin exacerbates experimental osteoarthritis via enhanced IL-36R signaling

open access: yesNature Communications
Age-related inflammation plays a pivotal role in osteoarthritis (OA) pathogenesis, but the mechanism is not fully understood. Here, we identify decreased IL-36 receptor antagonists (IL-36Ra) in epidermal keratinocytes from a premature-aged skin mice ...

hypertension (89.9% vs 90.4%, P 1⁄4 .61). OPs were associated with higher mortality rates (1.9% vs 0.6%, P 1⁄4 .0004), postoperative worsening of renal function (1.4% vs 0.4%, P 1⁄4 .002), cardiac events (3.5% vs 1.4%, P < .0001), respiratory complications (3.2% vs 1.1%, P < .0001), and combined outcomes (6.8% vs 2.3%, P < .0001).
