Entanglement and interference between different degrees of freedom of photons states

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, photonic entanglement and interference are described and analyzed with the language of quantum information process. Correspondingly, a photon state involving several degrees of freedom is represented in a new expression based on the ...

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

TOWARDS A FUTURISTIC EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Majority of the nations of the world were colonized and went through wars at various times, but had turned around their fortunes through economic and educational reforms. In Nigeria however, there had been series of educational reforms from: 7/6-5-4 to

QFD: an interactive algorithm for the prioritization of product's technical characteristics

open access: yes, 2002
The paper is concerned with the problem of the ``prioritization' ' of technical design characteristic s of a product. An interactive algorithm has been developed with the aim to better support the engineering design process by means of quality function ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Conversion degree, microhardness, microleakage and fluoride release of different fissure sealants

open access: yesJournal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2010
The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of conversion (DC), microhardness, microleakage and fluoride release of a nano-filled resin based fissure sealant (Grandio Seal, GS) and compare it with an un-filled resin based fissure sealant (Clinpro, CL) and a glass-ionomer based fissure sealant (Fuji Triage, FT).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Four-Majorana qubit with charge readout: dynamics and decoherence

open access: yes, 2018
We present a theoretical analysis of a Majorana-based qubit consisting of two topological superconducting islands connected via a Josephson junction. The qubit is operated by electrostatic gates which control the coupling of two of the four Majorana zero

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
