Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

A Simple and Convenient Method for the Synthesis of 1-Methyl-7-arylfuro[3,2-g]pteridine-2,4(1H,3H)-diones and Their Substituted Derivatives

open access: yesActa Chimica Slovenica, 2020
A simple and effective method for the synthesis of unknown 1-methyl-7-arylfuro[3,2-g]pteridine-2,4(1H,3H)-diones by dehydration of the corresponding 1-methyl-6-phenacyl-pteridine-2,4,7(1H,3H,8H)-triones is reported in the article. It was shown that their

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Non-Contact Monitoring of Dehydration using RF Data Collected off the Chest and the Hand [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We report a novel non-contact method for dehydration monitoring. We utilize a transmit software defined radio (SDR) that impinges a wideband radio frequency (RF) signal (of frequency 5.23 GHz) onto either the chest or the hand of a subject who sits nearby.

CD44v, S1PR1, HER3, MET and cancer‐associated amino acid transporters are promising targets for the pancreatic cancers characterized using mAb

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Novel mAbs could detect cancer‐associated membrane proteins on various type of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC) by flow cytometry with viable PDAC cells and by immunohistochemistry with PDAC tissues. Results of protein expression were substantiated by mRNA expression by The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Open-Label Placebo Interventions With Drinking Water and Their Influence on Perceived Physical and Mental Well-Being

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2021
In recent years, the postulation that deception is necessary for placebos to have an effect on pain relief or increased well-being has come into question. Latest studies have shown that an openly administered mock drug works just as well as a deceptively

23Na NMR study of non-superconducting double-layer hydrate NaxCoO2.yH2O [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica C : Superconductivity, Volumes 445-448, 1 October 2006, Pages 69-72, 2006
We report 23Na NMR studies of the polycrystalline samples of double-layer hydrated cobalt oxides NaxCoO2.yH2O (x ~ 0.35 and y ~ 1.3) with the superconducting transition temperatures Tc < 1.8K and ~4.5K, and the dehydrated NaxCoO2 (x ~ 0.35). The hyperfine field and the electric field gradient at the Na sites in the non-hydrated Na0.7CoO2 and the ...

HDAC4 regulates apoptosis in Acan‐CreERT2;HDAC4d/d mice with osteoarthritis by downregulating ATF4

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using the AcanCreERT2;HDAC4fl/fl genetic mouse model, we further investigated the role of histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) in chondrocyte apoptosis. We found that knocking down HDAC4 may be associated with chondrocyte apoptosis by upregulating the activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4)/CAAT/enhancer binding protein homologous (CHOP) signaling pathway ...
