Fine Structural Changes of Mitochondria in Cerebral Edema and Dehydration

open access: yesArchivum histologicum japonicum, 1970
Mitochondrial changes in the experimental cerebral edema and dehydration of the rabbit were observed with the electron microscope. Cerebral edema was produced in three animals by the Weed's method, the intravenous injection of distilled water (50cc/kg). Cerebral dehydration was produced in three animals by the intravenous injection of 30% urea solution

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

MARK4 enhances stress granule formation under oxidative stress and increases tau accumulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
MARK4 (red dots) localizes to stress granules (orange dots) and promotes their formation under oxidative stress by modulating TIA1 (blue dots). MARK4 and TIA1 synergistically increase tau (purple) accumulation, and the reduction of the TIA1 ortholog suppresses neurodegeneration in a fly model.

Acute Kidney Injury After Mechanical Thrombectomy for Stroke in Patients With Pre‐Existing Renal Impairment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common but often underrecognized complication in ischemic stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy, particularly among those with pre‐existing renal impairment. This study evaluated the incidence, risk factors, and clinical impact of AKI in this high‐risk population.

Peculiarities of party structurization of European Parliament [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The present article highlights the specific features typical for party structurization of European Parliament. The conclusion is that on the current stage European parties are, first of all, mechanic alliances of members of national, ideologically ...

Changes in Immune‐Inflammation Status and Prognosis in Pregnancy‐Related Cerebral Venous Thrombosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Distinguishing pathological changes from physiological adaptations in pregnancy‐related cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is clinically challenging. This study aimed to characterize coagulation, immune‐inflammation, and dehydration status in these patients and assess their prognostic value.

Data‐Driven SuStaIn Model of Disability Progression in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine whether ordinal Subtype and Stage Inference (SuStaIn) applied to routine ALSFRS‐R item scores can identify reproducible disability progression patterns in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and provide clinically meaningful staging.

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Ferulic acid pretreatment enhances dehydration-stress tolerance of cucumber seedlings

open access: yes, 2013
To examine whether ferulic acid (FA) could protect plants from dehydration stress and to investigate a mechanism for the protection, cucumber seedlings were pretreated with 0.5 mM FA for 2 d and then were exposed to dehydration induced by 10 ...
