ABSTRACT Del Nido cardioplegia (DNC), a blood‐and‐crystalloid solution containing high and low concentrations of potassium and calcium, respectively, is used as a single‐dose antegrade infusion to induce immediate cardiac arrest in the surgery of patients with cardiovascular diseases requiring extracorporeal circulation.

Objective: This study compared early postoperative outcomes of Custodiol‐HTK versus cold intermittent blood cardioplegia in patients undergoing complete atrioventricular septal defect (CAVSD) repair. Methods: From January 2012 to December 2022, we retrospectively analyzed 305 patients undergoing CAVSD repair at our center.

Objectives Surgical treatment of aortic arch hypoplasia includes differences in terms of perfusion strategies. We aimed to compare the early and midterm results of isolated aortic arch reconstruction in terms of operation on antegrade cerebral perfusion (ACP) with beating heart (BH) or ACP with cardiac arrest (CA).

Introduction: With the accruing experience of the single femoral venous drainage (SFVD) technique in reoperative isolated tricuspid valve surgery via a minimally invasive approach, some surgeons applied it to patients undergoing primary surgery. The aim of our study was to evaluate the hematological and clinical effects of SFVD in minimally invasive ...

ABSTRACT Patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure using percutaneous devices, such as the Amplatzer occluder, is a common treatment for patients with a history of cryptogenic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). Although generally well‐tolerated, some patients may develop adverse reactions to the device materials, particularly in the presence of a ...

Abstract We tested whether the brain and kidney respond differently to cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and to changes in perfusion conditions during CPB. Therefore, in ovine CPB, we assessed regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rSO2) by near‐infrared spectroscopy and renal cortical and medullary tissue oxygen tension (PO2), and, in some protocols, brain ...
