Fetal Growth and Adipose Fat Tissue Trajectories in Twin Pregnancies after Gastric Bypass Surgery

open access: yesObesity Facts, 2021
Introduction: Previous studies demonstrated a continues decline in fetal growth throughout singleton pregnancy after bariatric surgery. However, intrauterine growth in twin pregnancy is subjected to further underlying processes.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Steps towards preventive HIV treatment in Fujian, China: problems identified via an assessment of initial antiretroviral therapy provision. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
BACKGROUND: At the end of 2009, a total of 501 AIDS patients were receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Fujian Province in China, yet there were no assessments to determine treatment efficacy and HIV-1 preventive potency under the current health care

Projected hospitalisations (California) with delayed school openings, assuming the same efficacy and timing of vaccine rollout as occurred in 2009.

open access: yes, 2023
Each colour shows a different age group as indicated by the legend, while shaded areas show 25–75th percentiles, with 2009 vaccination coverage/efficacy.

Associations of an industry-relevant metal mixture with verbal learning and memory in Italian adolescents: The modifying role of iron status [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Background: Biomarker concentrations of metals are associated with neurodevelopment, and these associations may be modified by nutritional status (e.g., iron deficiency). No prior study on associations of metal mixtures with neurodevelopment has assessed

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.

Percentile-Based Deep Reinforcement Learning and Reward Based Personalization For Delay Aware RAN Slicing in O-RAN

open access: yesCoRR
In this paper, we tackle the challenge of radio access network (RAN) slicing within an open RAN (O-RAN) architecture. Our focus centers on a network that includes multiple mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) competing for physical resource blocks (PRBs) with the goal of meeting probabilistic delay upper bound constraints for their clients while ...
