Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Repair Integrity and Clinical Outcomes Following Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2016
Objectives: To prospectively evaluate the effect of early versus delayed motion on repair integrity on 6-month postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans following rotator cuff repair, and to correlate repair integrity with clinical and ...

Effect of High-Intensity Interval Training on Fatty Infiltration After Delayed Rotator Cuff Repair in a Mouse Model

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2023
Background: Fatty infiltration (FI) of the rotator cuff muscles is correlated with shoulder function and retear rates after rotator cuff repair. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) induces beige adipose tissue to express more uncoupling protein 1 ...

Does Lost Time Cost You Money and Create High Risk? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The aim of the case study is to express the delayed repair time impact on the revenues and profit in numbers with the example of the outage of power plant units.

Impact of histone H4 lysine 20 methylation on 53BP1 responses to chromosomal double strand breaks. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Recruitment of 53BP1 to chromatin flanking double strand breaks (DSBs) requires γH2AX/MDC1/RNF8-dependent ubiquitination of chromatin and interaction of 53BP1 with histone H4 methylated on lysine 20 (H4K20me). Several histone methyltransferases have been

Repair Kinetics of Radiation-Induced Mitotic Delay

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1973
The recovery from radiation-induced mitotic delay in asynchronous sarcoma-180 (S-180) ascites tumor cells has been analyzed in a manner analogous to the repair of sublethal damage. 200-R increments were separated by various fraction intervals (not exceeding the time necessary for mitosis to return to control levels) for total exposures up to 1600 R ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Comparison of functional outcomes following early and delayed arthroscopic repair for traumatic and non-traumatic rotator cuff injuries

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research
Background The effects of the timing of surgical repair on the outcomes of traumatic and non-traumatic rotator cuff injuries (RCI) remain elusive.
