Deliberate Practice in Programming
Proceedings of the 4th European Conference on Software Engineering Education, 2020This work in progress study examines through which activities programmers perform deliberate practice to improve their own skills in coding and programming. For this reason, a qualitative questionnaire was developed and conducted with a sample of 22 participants.

The theory of deliberate practice is a framework that details how practice can lead to improvements in performance and the attainment of expertise. Deliberate practice was predicted to differ from other activities by being more relevant to improving key aspects of performance, more effortful, yet relatively low in inherent enjoyment.
