Continuous-Time Delta-Sigma Modulators

2017
DSM ADCs trade off speed for accuracy by using oversampling and noise shaping techniques. Compared to discrete-time (DT) DSMs, usually continuous-time (CT) DSMs are applied for higher-bandwidth and lower-accuracy A/D conversions.

Instantaneously adaptive delta sigma modulator

Canadian Electrical Engineering Journal, 1986
An instantaneously adaptive delta sigma modulator, where the pulse amplitude is increased or decreased by a constant value, is proposed. Its performances for sinusoidal signals and speech are studied. While an adaptive delta modulator operating at similar bit rates will perform better, the delta sigma modulator is useful in signal processing ...

Multistage bandpass delta sigma modulators

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, 1994
A new architecture for oversampled delta sigma A/D conversion of high-frequency narrow band signals using cascaded low-order stages to obtain high overall order of noise shaping is described. The architecture involves using resonators in individual stages to suppress quantization noise at the resonant frequency.

Analysis of Delta Sigma Modulator

2011 International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Communication Networks, 2011
This paper presents the analysis of Delta sigma modulators. First order, second order, third order and a 2-1 cascaded modulator are presented here. The higher the order of modulator higher is the order of noise shaping offered by the design but higher order modulators suffer from potential instability.

Superconducting bandpass delta-sigma modulator

Superconductor Science and Technology, 1999
Bandpass delta-sigma modulators digitize narrowband signals with high dynamic range and linearity. The required sampling rate is only a few times higher than the centre frequency of the input. This paper presents a superconducting bandpass delta-sigma modulator for direct analogue-to-digital conversion of RF signals in the GHz range.

Incremental delta-sigma modulator

A delta-sigma modulator with reset for incremental ∆Σ ADCs for the 180 nm CMOS technology with a supply voltage of 3.3 V from Mikron JSC is presented. The simulation of the ∆Σ modulator in the time domain in the Virtuoso analog design environment from Cadence DS was performed. The clock frequency was set to 6.25 MHz. The power consumption was about 9.5

Continuous-Time Delta-Sigma Modulator

2014
This chapter starts with a brief explanation of the operation of an ideal single-loop continuous-time delta-sigma (CTΔΣ) modulator and describes its major building blocks, i.e. the loop filter, quantizer and digital-to-analog converter (DAC). In Sect.

Delta-Sigma Modulation

2015
Delta modulation was actively developed for communication purposes in the sixties and seventies. It has also had applications in consumer audio equipment, industrial electronics devices, and precision measurement devices (see Jarman [14]). It consisted in an underlying analog-to-fixed sampling frequency pulse-width-modulation encoding transformation of

Fiber-optic asynchronous delta-sigma modulator

2010 Photonics Global Conference, 2010
A novel photonic analog-to-digital convertor (ADC) based on an asynchronous delta-sigma modulator (ADSM) has been investigated and demonstrated in this paper. Because of the non-negative signal in the optical domain, a pseudo-positive feedback loop requires the design of an inverted bistable quantizer, promising non-interferometric optical ...

Asynchronous fiber-optic delta-sigma modulator

2011 International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics jointly held with the 2011 Asia-Pacific Microwave Photonics Conference, 2011
A novel photonic analog-to-digital converter (ADC) based on asynchronous delta-sigma modulation technique (ADSM) has been investigated and demonstrated. The ADSM architecture utilizes photonic leaky integrators, inverted bistable quantizer and positive corrective feedback suitable for non-interferometric optical implementation.
