Space-time vector delta-sigma modulation
2002 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37353), 2003Classical delta-sigma modulation gains resolution through temporal oversampling by using a high-speed, low-resolution quantizer and shaping the resulting quantization errors out of the signal band. Likewise, spatial delta-sigma modulation is often used in image halftoning to create high-visual-quality binary images.

Rate-distortion analysis of Delta-Sigma modulators
2017 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2017Delta-Sigma modulators are often utilized to convert analog signals into digital signals. The quantization error of a Delta-Sigma modulator can be reduced by oversampling. However, oversampling increases the number of bits per time if the same number of bits are assigned to each output of the quantizer.

A switched-current bandpass delta-sigma modulator
Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems - ISCAS '94, 2002An eighth-order switched-current bandpass delta-sigma modulator is described. Simulations indicate that out 1.2 /spl mu/m CMOS implementation will achieve a SNR of 90 dB in the band 10 MHz/spl plusmn/150 KHz when clocked at 40 MHz. The modulator makes use of a switched-current resonator based on the N-path technique and the resonator employs regulated ...

Delta-Sigma Modulation for Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis
IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2006This paper presents comparisons of various DeltaSigma modulations in direct digital frequency synthesis. DeltaSigma modulators such as MASH, feedforward, feedback and error feedback have been implemented in both phase and frequency domains in a CMOS DDS.

Incremental delta-sigma modulator
A delta-sigma modulator with reset for incremental ∆Σ ADCs for the 180 nm CMOS technology with a supply voltage of 3.3 V from Mikron JSC is presented. The simulation of the ∆Σ modulator in the time domain in the Virtuoso analog design environment from Cadence DS was performed. The clock frequency was set to 6.25 MHz. The power consumption was about 9.5Pilipko, Mikhail, Morozov, Dmitry

Delta-sigma modulators using frequency-modulated intermediate values
IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 1997This paper describes a new first- and second-order delta-sigma modulator concept where the first integrator is extracted and implemented by a frequency modulator with the modulating signal as the input. The result is a simple delta-sigma modulator with no need for digital-to-analog converters, allowing straightforward multibit quantization. Without the

Direct digital synthesizer with tunable delta sigma modulator
Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003In direct digital synthesizer (DDS) applications, the drawback of the conventional delta sigma (ΔΣ) modulator structure is that its signal band is fixed. In the new architecture presented in this paper, the signal band of the ΔΣ modulator is tuned according to the DDS output frequency.

Compact tone-behavior model for Delta-Sigma modulators
2011 20th European Conference on Circuit Theory and Design (ECCTD), 2011This paper proposes a compact mathematical model for predicting and analyzing Delta-Sigma modulator's spurious tones. The model is based on frequency modulation and it outputs an accurate quantization noise estimate array for an arbitrary modulator stimulus: dc, ramp, sinusoid, two-tone, etc.

Incremental Delta-Sigma Modulators for Temperature Sensing Applications
2008 15th International Conference on Mechatronics and Machine Vision in Practice, 2008This paper presents a comparison of incremental delta-sigma analog-to-digital converters for integrated temperature sensing applications. The characteristics of bipolar transistor based temperature sensing front-ends place specific requirements on the modulator loop architecture.
