Interferon type 1 (IFN‐1) production and signaling is associated with the acquisition of therapy resistance, following chronic DNA damage, via Interferon‐related DNA damage resistance signature (IRDS) gene expression. An alternative, DNA damage‐independent role of sustained IFN‐1 mediated resistance was identified and characterized by the emergence of ...

An Improved Delta-Centralization Method for Population Stratification [PDF]
Dadd et al. [Hum Hered 2010;69:285–294] recently criticized our delta-centralization (DC) method of controlling for population stratification (PS) and concluded that DC does not work. To explore our method, the authors simulated data under the Balding-Nichols (BN) model, which is more general than the model we had used in our simulations.

Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Multiple periodic solutions for the second-order nonlinear difference equations
Multiple periodic solutions for the equation Δ(pn(Δxn−1)δ)+qnxnδ=∇F(n,xn),n∈Z, $$ \Delta \bigl(p_{n}(\Delta x_{n - 1})^{\delta } \bigr) + q_{n}x_{n}^{\delta } = \nabla F ( n,x_{n} ) , \quad n \in \mathbb{Z}, $$ are obtained via variational method and ...

Delta methods in enveloping rings
Let L be a Lie algebra over a field K of characteristic 0 with a universal enveloping algebra U(L) (or a restricted Lie algebra with restricted enveloping algebra u(L) when char K\(=p>0)\) and let L act on a K-algebra R as K-derivations. The authors consider the twisted smash products R{\#}U(L) and R{\#}u(L).

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Hardware-Efficient Delta Sigma-Based Digital Signal Processing Circuits for the Internet-of-Things
This paper presents hardware-efficient Delta Sigma linear processing circuits for the next generation low-power VLSI devices in the Internet-of-things (IoT).We first propose the P-N (positive-negative) pair method to manipulate both the analog value and ...
