Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Evolutionary learning driven load forecasting and demand response management model for smart grid [PDF]

open access: yes
The smart meter data generated from the customers' usage help utility providers to manage and control the electricity distribution among the customers for reliable services in the smart grid.

Unraveling Firms: Demand, Productivity and Markups Heterogeneity

open access: yes, 2023
We develop a novel framework that simultaneously allows recovering heterogeneity in demand, quantity TFP and markups across firms while leaving the correlation between the three dimensions unrestricted. We accomplish this by explicitly introducing demand

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Privacy Enhanced Demand Response with Reputation-based Incentive Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes
Demand response (DR) is a Smart Grid application that aims at managing consumption of electricity in response to supply-side signals. The exchange of sensitive information (i.e., electricity consumption data) between the consumers and the DR provider is ...

A demand response to line planning

open access: yesMultimodal Transportation
As a linking factor between supply and demand, line planning is a crucial aspect of long-term railway planning. It aims to create a viable line system that optimises specific objectives by determining stop patterns and service frequencies to meet the ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hierarchial Demand Response for Colocation Data Centers

open access: yes, 2017
Demand response is considered as a valuable functionality of the power grid and its potential impacts continue expanding with grid modernization. Colocation data centers (simply called colocation) are recognized as a notably promising resource for demand

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Optimized Consumer-Centric Demand Response

open access: yes2018 Global Internet of Things Summit (GIoTS), 2018
Demand side management has focused more on centralized control and heavily depends on continuous consumer interaction, often overlooking consumer thermal and visual comfort. Distribution grid management will necessitate the active involvement of new market actors (i.e.
