ABSTRACT The detection of partial discharges (PD) on the power transformer tank demands higher sensitivity in ultrasonic detection. To target the detection frequency band for sensor optimisation and enhance sensitivity, this paper presents a dual‐frequency sensitivity model for optical fibre ultrasonic sensors.

Abstract The AI revolution has produced synthetic faces that often appear more human than photos of real people. We tested whether individual differences in human face recognition ability explain variation in discriminating AI from real faces. Super‐recognizers – people with exceptional ability to recognize human faces (N = 36) – outperformed a typical

Werner Irnich: Pioneer in the Development of the Dual‐Chamber Pacemaker—An Obituary
ABSTRACT Fifty years ago, Werner Irnich presented the concept of an optimal pacemaker capable of responding appropriately to various cardiac arrhythmias and perceptual disturbances, and intended to be used in 85% of patients. With this concept, Irnich was far ahead of his time. His proposed circuitry for AV block and atrial fibrillation, as well as his

ABSTRACT In animal‐pollinated plants, pollen dispersal depends on several plant and animal characteristics that can influence the paternal success of a plant. Paternal success affects the genetic contribution of a genotype to the next generation, which is relevant to plant breeding.

Cerebral haemodynamic responses to inspiratory muscle work
Abstract Fatiguing inspiratory work has been shown to evoke a sympathetically mediated reflex that has systemic cardiovascular consequences, including increases in heart rate and blood pressure and a decrease in resting limb vascular conductance. Moreover, the response to this reflex appears to be attenuated in females compared with males.

Soil Crack Width Controls Preferential Flow Velocity Through Drag Partitioning
Abstract Preferential flow within soil cracks influences land surface hydrological processes, yet direct quantifying preferential flow velocity (PFV) remains challenging. Here, we develop a method for high‐resolution monitoring and quantifying PFV in soil cracks using optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR).
