Helical Bragg gratings filter for orbital angular momentum wave

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
Effective filtration of orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes is essential to achieve multiple-channel data transmission in an OAM fiber for telecommunication applications.

16-Channel Wavelength Division Multiplexers Based on Subwavelength Grating

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) plays an important role in optical interconnection. In this paper, a 16-channel WDM device is designed on a Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) substrate by using a sub-wavelength grating (SWG) structure, which can cover O ...

Polarization demultiplexing in Stokes space

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
A technique is demonstrated for polarization demultiplexing of arbitrary complex-modulated signals. The technique is based entirely on the observation of samples in Stokes space, does not involve demodulation and is modulation format independent. The data in Stokes space is used to find the best fit plane and the normal to it which contains the origin.

Optical signal processing via two-photon absorption in a semiconductor microcavity for the next generation of high-speed optical communications network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Due to the introduction of new broadband services, individual line data rates are expected to exceed 100 Gb/s in the near future. To operate at these high speeds, new optical signal processing techniques will have to be developed.

Synergistic HMGN1 and VP64 Fusions Potentiate High‐Precision and PAM‐Flexible Base Editing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel CDA1Δ‐SpRY architecture fused with HMGN1 and VP64 yields a nearly PAM‐less base editing platform. By focusing cytosine conversion predominantly at position −18, this synergistic complex ensures highly precise targeting. Demonstrating enhanced efficiency across diverse models, including yeast and rice, the platform offers a robust solution for ...

Bayesian quantum estimation of the separation of two incoherent point sources [PDF]

open access: yesAPL Quantum
We examine the problem of estimating the separation between two arbitrarily close incoherent point sources from a quantum Bayesian perspective—that is, assuming the availability of a prior probability distribution function (PDF) for the separation.

Adipocyte Myoglobin Is a Determinant of Energy Expenditure and a Potential Target to Limit Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Myoglobin, known as a muscle oxygen‐carrying protein, is shown to play a key role in fat cells that burn energy. Loss of myoglobin reduces the body's ability to generate heat and increases obesity risk, while restoring it improves metabolism. The study identifies myoglobin as a regulator of fat burning and a potential target to enhance energy ...

Molecular and Cellular Hallmarks of Age‐Related Vestibular Hair Cell Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes single‐cell RNA‐seq transcriptomes, advanced imaging, and electrophysiology to examine universal and cell‐type‐specific aging signatures of vestibular hair cells. The study shows that impaired hair bundle function is a key driver of age‐related vestibular dysfunction.
