Helix-coil transition in DNA in the presence of a denaturating agent

A theory of the helix-coil transition in solutions containing a denaturing agent is proposed. It is shown that, if the transition is induced by an increase in the concentration of the denaturant, the range of the conformational transition narrows with a growing activity of the agent.

Structural transition during thermal denaturation of collagen in the solution and film states

AbstractTemperature dependent vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectra of type I collagen, in solution and film states, have been measured. These spectra obtained for solution sample suggest that the thermal denaturation of collagen results in transition from poly‐L‐proline II (PPII) to unordered structure.

[Calorimetric study of the glass transition of denatured collagen].

Temperature dependence of heat capacity of native and denatured collagen samples with different content of bound water (6 divided by 27%) has been studied by DSC method in the temperature range from -50 to 150 degrees C. Heat capacity of denatured samples demonstrates a jump of 0.50 J/g.grad.
