The Year of the Dendrite

Science, 1997
Octopus-like neurons, the cells of the brain, typically have many input “arms”—the dendrites, which receive signals from other neurons—and one output arm, the axon. Two new reports in this week's Science show that the dendrites process information in a manner even more complex than expected.

Morphological Studies of Dendrites and Dendritic Secretion

2007
This review attempts to highlight the role that morphological studies have played in developing our understanding of the importance of secretion from dendrites. It is now clear that dendritic secretion plays a role in the regulation of dendritic morphology; whether during development or in the morphological plasticity that accompanies both synaptic ...

Follicular Dendritic Cells and Dendritic Cell Nomenclature

1993
In the 10 years since the last nomenclature committee on dendritic cells met (Tew, Thorbecke and Steinman, J. Reticuloendothelial Society 31:371, 1982), considerable evidence has accumulated supporting the concept that Langerhans cells, interdigitating cells, and veiled cells are the same cell in different stages of maturation. It also appears that the
