A Novel Approach to Implementing Artificial Thalamic Neurons with Ferroelectric Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial neurons created using CMOS technology often require a large number of transistors and capacitors. This study introduces an artificial thalamic neuron that employs only five CMOS compatible ferroelectric transistors. The manufactured thalamic neuron demonstrates leaky integrate‐and‐fire‐or‐burst (LIFB) functionalities, featuring self ...

Analysis of B cell selection mechanisms in the adaptive immune response [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The essential task of a germinal centre reaction is the selection of those B cells that bind the antigen with high affinity. The exact mechanisms of B cell selection is still unknown and rather difficult to be accessed in experiment.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Dendritic Cells

open access: yes, 2016
T cells are an essential element that regulates the balance in immunity, by killing infected cells, helping antibody formation and suppressing autoimmune responses. However, T cells are incapable of recognizing native antigens. Instead, they recognize processed peptides presented by MHC molecules.

Unlocking Ultra‐Long Cycle Stability of Li Metal Electrode by Separators Modified by Porous Red Phosphorus Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Coating the standard polypropylene separator with a porous red phosphorous nanosheet greatly improves cycling performance in Li electrode cells. The phosphorus‐based surface chemistry deactivates electrolyte solvent decomposition and enhances the cleavage of F‐containing salt, resulting in an inorganic‐dominated electrolyte interphase (SEI) composition

Boosting Polysulfide Conversion on Fe‐Doped Nickel Diselenide Toward Robust Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports an advanced functional material based on Fe‐doped nickel diselenides toward robust lithium–sulfur batteries, demonstrating that Fe‐rich cores and surface doping enhance the density of states at the Fermi level and introduce unpaired electrons for the improvement of the LiPS adsorption and catalytic conversion. Abstract Sulfur offers a

Protocol for mapping the heterogeneous dendritic cell network across the murine tissue landscape via high-dimensional flow cytometry

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: Dendritic cells (DCs) populate nearly all tissues and represent the central orchestrators of immunity. Here, we present a protocol for the mild but efficient preparation of single-cell suspensions from multiple murine tissues and the downstream ...
