Ecology of the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) in an agricultural landscape. 1. Den-site selection

Australian Mammalogy, 2012
Foxes concentrate their activities around den sites during the breeding period and regularly visit dens at other times of the year, meaning den location is an important consideration in efforts to control foxes and protect native prey species. The ecology and leaf dynamics of the seagrass Thalassodendron ciliatum (Forsk,) den Hartog

Australian Journal of Botany, 1984
Thalassodendron ciliatum is recorded for the first time from the Papua New Guinea mainland. Net leaf productivity (3 and 6 day data) for three T. ciliatum populations (Red Sea, Torres Strait and the Papuan coastal lagoon) was remarkably similar, ranging from 1.70 to 1.78 cm2 per shoot per day. The leaf area index of a monospecific T.

Reproduction, Survival, and Denning Ecology of Black Bears in Southwestern Virginia

2014
Thirty-four (6 M, 28 F) of 93 black bears (Ursus americanus) captured during summers 1995 and 1996 were equipped with radio-collars. The mean age of male and females captured was 2.5 (n = 63; 2 males not aged) and 4.4 (n = 28) years, respectively. The mean date of females in estrus was 24 July, and we observed one 1.5-year old female in estrus.

Initial Den Location by Neonatal Prairie Rattlesnakes: Functions, Causes, and Natural History in Chemical Ecology

1986
The concept of adaptation has long been a central idea in the study of the survival and evolution of life on earth (e.g., Williams, 1966). The potential existence of biological adaptation is best thought of as a hypothesis to be tested or an idea to be approached, and not a phenomenon that is automatically inherent in each and every characteristic of a
