Community Detection Based on Differential Evolution Using Modularity Density

open access: yesInformation, 2018
Currently, many community detection methods are proposed in the network science field. However, most contemporary methods only employ modularity to detect communities, which may not be adequate to represent the real community structure of networks for ...

Is the dynamics of open quantum systems always linear?

open access: yes, 2003
We study the influence of the preparation of an open quantum system on its reduced time evolution. In contrast to the frequently considered case of an initial preparation where the total density matrix factorizes into a product of a system density matrix

The density evolution of IRAS galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1992
A maximum likelihood test for density evolution is applied to a full-sky redshift survey of 5297 galaxies selected from the IRAS data base and flux-limited at 1.2 Jy. No evidence for evolution is found. Attention is given to important systematic errors which decrease the certainty with which evolution can be measured, namely, limited knowledge of the ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Formation of clumps and patches in self-aggregation of finite size particles

open access: yes, 2005
New model equations are derived for dynamics of self-aggregation of finite-size particles. Differences from standard Debye-Huckel and Keller-Segel models are: a) the mobility $\mu$ of particles depends on the locally-averaged particle density and b ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Effect of Nonparallel End Face on Energy Dissipation Analyses of Rocklike Materials Based on SHPB Tests

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2019
To evaluate the effect of nonparallel end face of rocklike specimens in SHPB tests, the characteristics of energy dissipation are analyzed based on numerical simulations for end-face nonparallelism from 0% to 0.40% and Young’s modulus from 14 GPa to 42 ...

Evolution of Charge and Pair Density Modulations in Overdoped Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CuO_{6+δ}

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2021
One of the central issues concerning the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity in cuprates is the nature of the ubiquitous charge order and its implications to superconductivity.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Langmuir wave linear evolution in inhomogeneous nonstationary anisotropic plasma

open access: yes, 2009
Equations describing the linear evolution of a non-dissipative Langmuir wave in inhomogeneous nonstationary anisotropic plasma without magnetic field are derived in the geometrical optics approximation.
