A review on the prevention of inflammatory periimplant diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: An impressive number of dental implants are inserted worldwide. Evolution in dental implants and simplification of surgical techniques allowed a significant increase in the number of dentists involved in implant surgery.

The phosphoinositide 3-kinase inhibitor alpelisib restores actin organization and improves proximal tubule dysfunction in vitro and in a mouse model of Lowe syndrome and Dent disease

open access: yesKidney International, 2020
Loss-of-function mutations in the OCRL gene, which encodes the phosphatidylinositol [PI] 4,5-bisphosphate [PI(4,5)P2] 5-phosphatase OCRL, cause defective endocytosis and proximal tubule dysfunction in Lowe syndrome and Dent disease 2.

First reported case of Dent Disease Type 2 in a Trisomy 21 child

open access: yesRare
Dent disease is an X-linked recessive proximal tubulopathy predominantly affecting male children with a classic triad of low molecular weight proteinuria, hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis.

The first Sri Lankan family with Dent disease-1 due to a pathogenic variant in the CLCN5 gene: a case report

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2017
Background Dent disease-1 is a rare X-linked recessive renal tubular disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the chloride voltage-gated channel 5 (CLCN5) gene.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Establishment of an induced pluripotent stem cell line (NCKDi003-A) from a patient with X-linked Dent disease (X-Dent) carrying the hemizygote mutation p. T277P (c. 829A > C) in the CLCN5 gene

open access: yesStem Cell Research, 2021
Dent disease (DD) is a rare X-linked proximal tubulopathy associated with low molecular weight proteinuria (LMWP), hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis and phosphoruria, which may progress to chronic kidney disease (CKD).

A Systematic Review on the Implication of Minerals in the Onset, Severity and Treatment of Periodontal Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease with high prevalence in adults that leads to destruction of the teeth-supporting tissues. Periodontal therapy has been traditionally directed at reduction of the bacterial load to a level that encourages ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.
