Structure of dental gallium alloys

Biomaterials, 1996
The interest in gallium alloys as a replacement for amalgam has increased in recent years due to the risk of environmental pollution from amalgam. Alloy powders with compositions close to those for alloys of amalgam are mixed with a liquid gallium alloy. The mix is condensed into a prepared cavity in much the same way as for amalgam.

Chemical Composition of Dental Gold Casting Alloy and Dental Wrought Gold Alloys

Journal of Dental Research, 1969
The chemical composition of dental casting gold alloys and dental wrought gold wire alloys was determined by use of a modification of a previously described X-ray emission method. Since 1928 and 1932 there has been little change in either type of alloy; there has been a decrease in platinum content in both, and 1 % nickel is now found in wire alloys.

A Survey of Dental Alloys

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1949
No other material is so universally and successfully employed in restoring carious teeth to a state of usefulness as is dental amalgam. Besides forming such a large proportion of the fillings, the number of amalgam restorations made annually is tremendous. The office of the Surgeon General stated that 68,170,326 permanent fillings were inserted by Army

Dental amalgam alloys.

Current opinion in dentistry, 1992
Dental amalgam, which constitutes nearly 75% of all restorative materials used in dental practice, has been used successfully for almost 150 years. Dental amalgam is low in cost, easy to use, consistent, and durable. Although amalgams have been challenged by more esthetic restorative materials and by fears of mercury toxicity, amalgams continue to be ...
