Detection of Tumor Necrosis Factor α in Normal and Inflamed Human Dental Pulps
Archives of Medical Research, 2002The aim of this study was to determine concentrations of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) in normal, painful, and asymptomatic human dental pulps.Pulps were obtained from three groups of teeth, including healthy teeth, asymptomatic teeth with caries and/or large restoration, and symptomatic teeth with clinical diagnosis of irreversible pulpitis.

More than 50% of all children suffer a traumatic dental injury (TDI) during childhood. In many cases, dentists apply root canal treatment (RCT), which is performed on an average of 7-10 days after replantation. Our aim was to evaluate whether RCT is necessary in many cases, and whether revitalization of affected teeth is possible and measurable by ...

Dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) from pulpitis patients showed defective osteogenic differentiation. However, as the most well-studied histone acetyltransferase, the impaired general control nonrepressed protein 5 (GCN5) plays essential roles in various developmental processes.

AbstractAimTo elucidate the role of HIF1α in pro‐inflammatory cytokine mRNA expression from lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐stimulated human dental pulp cells (hDPCs).MethodologymRNA expression of interleukin (IL) 1β and tumour necrosis factor (TNF) α in LPS‐stimulated hDPCs was determined by quantitative RT‐PCR.

The effects of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha on the plasminogen activator (PA)/plasmin system in human dental pulp (HDP) cells were examined. TNF-alpha treatment induced a significantly high level of PA activity in the conditioned medium of HDP cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner, compared with untreated control cells.

The effects of and interactions between the six inflammatory mediators interleukin-1 (IL-1), tumour necrosis factor (TNF), gamma-interferon (INF-gamma), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta), bradykinin (BK) and thrombin on prostanoid biosynthesis in primary cultures of human, dental, pulp fibroblasts were examined.

AbstractHuman dental pulp cells (HDPCs) play an important role in pulpitis. Semaphorin3A (Sema3A), which is an axon guidance molecule, is a member of the secretory semaphorin family. Recently, Sema3A has been reported to be an osteoprotective factor and to be involved in the immune response.
