Aβ antibodies target not only amyloid plaques but also distinct brain cells and vessels

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Amyloid beta (Aβ) antibodies are the only therapies to slow cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Yet the sites where antibodies engage Aβ in the brain and mechanisms that lower Aβ are not fully understood. Defining Aβ antibody localizations in the brain is essential to understand how immunotherapy is beneficial for AD ...

A Meta‐Analysis of the Effects of Chronic Stress on the Prefrontal Transcriptome in Animal Models and Convergence With Existing Human Data

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Chronic stress is linked to many human psychiatric disorders involving the prefrontal cortex (PFC). We performed a meta‐analysis of public transcriptional profiling data that showed that chronically stressed mice have less gene expression for glia and neural activity in the PFC. These findings mirror patterns seen in psychiatric patients.

Postnatal Development of the Perirhinal and Parahippocampal Cortices: A Stereological Study in Macaque Monkeys

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 1, January 2026.
Volumetric data reveal a late maturation of areas 36r and 36c compared to areas 35, TF, and TH, as well as a tendency for superficial layers in areas 36r and 36c to mature earlier than the deep layers. Neuronal soma size exhibits a transient increase at 6 months of age in most subdivisions.

Association Between Carotid Atherosclerosis and Post‐Stroke Cognitive Impairment in Patients With Mild Ischemic Stroke: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
Carotid ultrasound parameters, particularly Crouse score and severe carotid stenosis, are independently associated with post‐stroke cognitive impairment and may serve as simple, non‐invasive predictors for early risk stratification. ABSTRACT Background Post‐stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a common yet frequently overlooked complication that ...

Disodium Cromoglycate Attenuates the Depressive‐Like Behaviors in Mice by Inhibiting Neuroinflammation

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
Mast cells were increased in the brain of depression model mice. Administration of Disodium Cromoglycate could alleviate depressive‐like behaviors in mice of LPS and CRS models. Administration of Disodium Cromoglycate mitigated the infiltration of mast cells in brain and down‐reuglated the expression of pro‐inflammatory factors in the brain of ...
