Phylogenetic and recombinant analyses of complete coding sequences of DENV-1 from field-caught mosquitoes in Thailand

open access: yesVirus Research, 2020
Dengue diseases are a group of infectious diseases that have been widespread throughout the world for several decades. Dengue outbreaks have occurred in many parts of the world, including Southeast Asia. The outbreak and the severity of the diseases depend on many factors including dengue genotype.

Predominance of Dengue Virus Serotype-1/Genotype-I in Eastern and Southeastern Ethiopia

open access: yesViruses
We determined the dengue virus (DENV) serotypes and genotypes in archived serum samples that were collected during the 2014–2016 and 2021 dengue outbreaks in Dire Dawa City and the Somali region in Ethiopia.

Phylogenetic analysis revealed the co-circulation of four dengue virus serotypes in Southern Thailand.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Dengue fever is caused by dengue viruses (DENV) from the Flavivirus genus and is the most prevalent arboviral disease. DENV exists in four immunogenically distinct and genetically-related serotypes (DENV-1 to 4), each subdivided in genotypes. Despite the

Host‐Directed Antiviral Activity of SB2960 Through Selective Induction and Remodeling of Stress Granules

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amid the ongoing threat of emerging viral pathogens, host‐directed antivirals offer a strategy to overcome viral mutation and drug resistance. SB2960, a small‐molecule inducer of stress granules (SGs), exhibits potent broad‐spectrum antiviral activity with minimal cytotoxicity.

Dengue virus type 1 (DENV-1) TaqMan (DENV1-TM2017) assay v2

open access: yes, 2018
This protocol was designed and developed at this laboratory. The assay specifically targets the 3' UTR region of DENV-1 and is designed as a qualitative screening test for human cases of DENV-1 infection, but not other known DENVs.

Population dynamics of DENV-1 genotype V in Brazil is characterized by co-circulation and strain/lineage replacement [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 2012
Following successive outbreaks of dengue fever caused predominantly by dengue virus (DENV) 2 and 3, DENV-1 is now the primary serotype circulating in Brazil. We sequenced and analyzed Brazilian DENV-1 genomes and found that all isolates belong to genotype V and are subdivided into three lineages, which were introduced during four different events.

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

In Silico Comparative Analysis of Predicted B Cell Epitopes against Dengue Virus (Serotypes 1–4) Isolated from the Philippines

open access: yesVaccines, 2022
Dengue is a viral mosquito-borne disease that rapidly spreads in tropical and subtropical countries, including the Philippines. One of its most distinguishing characteristics is the ability of the Dengue Virus (DENV) to easily surpass the innate ...

Membralin Assembles a MAN1B1–VCP Complex to Target Foreign Glycoproteins from the Endoplasmic Reticulum to Lysosomes for Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies Membralin as an ER‐phagy receptor that recruits MAN1B1 and VCP to form a selective ERLAD complex. By sensing dense N‐glycan clusters on viral fusion glycoproteins, this ubiquitin‐independent pathway directs SARS‐CoV‐2 spike, Ebola GP, influenza HA, and HIV‐1 Env to lysosomal degradation, thereby limiting viral infectivity ...
