No Guide to Ground: Right‐Making and Right‐Makers
ABSTRACT It is often taken for granted that right‐makers, that is, the things that make something—say, an action—right, do so by explaining why it is right. This view can be spelled out in terms of metaphysical ground: right‐making just is grounding of rightness facts.

Locke(d) in a Dilemma: The Problem of Territorial Authority
ABSTRACT In Lockean social contract theory, the state exercises its authority over territory through property rights. The state has territorial authority over the property it and its citizens claim. This authority is legitimate when the state has the consent of the governed and effectively governs. In this paper, I argue that there is an irreconcilable

Automated Reasoning over Deontic Action Logics with Finite Vocabularies
In this paper we investigate further the tableaux system for a deontic action logic we presented in previous work. This tableaux system uses atoms (of a given boolean algebra of action terms) as labels of formulae, this allows us to embrace parallel ...

Quantifiers for a Modal Future

Deontic Logic, Mental odels, and Wason Selection Task

A Deontic Argumentation Framework Based on Deontic Defeasible Logic
Deontic Defeasible Logic (DDL) is a simple and computationally efficient approach for the representation of normative reasoning. Traditionally defeasible logics are defined proof theoretically based on the proof conditions for the logic. In this paper we present an argumentation system that corresponds to a variant of DDL.
