Spectroscopic Analysis: Deoxyribonucleosides and DNA

2014
Chirality plays a primary role in nature and has immense importance in the chemical processes of all living organism, since most biomolecules (DNA, proteins, sugars) are chiral. Chiral molecules have the ability to rotate polarized light, which can be measured using circular dichroism spectroscopy, among other methods.

Antiviral Activity of Iodinated Pyrimidine Deoxyribonucleosides

1984
The nucleoside analogs AIdUrd, IdUrd and IdCyd exert their antiviral effects after phosphorylation and subsequent incorporation into viral DNA. AldUrd and IdCyd require the herpesvirus pyrimidine deoxyriboside kinase for the initial phosphorylation, but IdUrd is substrate for both the viral and cellular thymidine kinase.

SYNTHESIS OF CARBON-14 LABELED DEOXYRIBONUCLEOSIDES

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1962
The enzymatic transfer of deoxyribose from a purine or a pyrimidine deoxyriboside to a carbon-14 labeled purine or pyrimidine base affords an efficient means of preparing labeled deoxyribonucleosides. Deoxyadenosine-8-C14, deoxyguanosine-8-C14, deoxycytidine-2-C14, and thymidine-2-C14, with the natural β-configuration, were prepared in good yields and
