Galactic magnetic fields, from radio polarimetry of the WIM

open access: yes, 2003
Multi-frequency radio polarimetry of the diffuse Galactic synchrotron background gives new viewpoints on the Galactic magnetic field. Rotation measure maps reveal magnetic structures on arcminute to degree scales, such as a ring in polarization that we ...

Mitochondrial membrane potential probes and the proton gradient: a practical usage guide

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2011
Fluorescent probes for monitoring mitochondrial membrane potential are frequently used for assessing mitochondrial function, particularly in the context of cell fate determination in biological and biomedical research.

Reduced Ca2+ transient amplitudes may signify increased or decreased depolarization depending on the neuromodulatory signaling pathway

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2022
Neuromodulators regulate neuronal excitability and bias neural circuit outputs. Optical recording of neuronal Ca2+ transients is a powerful approach to study the impact of neuromodulators on neural circuit dynamics.

Tuning of the depolarization field and nanodomain structure in ferroelectric thin films

open access: yes, 2014
The screening efficiency of a metal-ferroelectric interface plays a critical role in determining the polarization stability and hence the functional properties of ferroelectric thin films.

Statistical modeling of the depolarizing properties of optically dense dispersive systems in the small-angle scattering mode of probe light propagation [PDF]

open access: yesИзвестия Саратовского университета. Новая серия: Математика. Механика. Информатика
Results of statistical modeling of the polarization degree decay in the case of forward propagation of a linearly polarized laser beam in multiple scattering dispersive systems are presented.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Polyamidoamine dendrimer impairs mitochondrial oxidation in brain tissue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: The potential nanocarrier polyamidoamine (PAMAM) generation 5 (G5-NH2) dendrimer has been shown to evoke lasting neuronal depolarization and cell death in a concentration-dependent manner. In this study we explored the early progression of G5-

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Voltage Gated Sodium Channel Genes in Epilepsy: Mutations, Functional Studies, and Treatment Dimensions

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
Genetic epilepsy occurs as a result of mutations in either a single gene or an interplay of different genes. These mutations have been detected in ion channel and non-ion channel genes. A noteworthy class of ion channel genes are the voltage gated sodium
