Real-time, in vivo intracellular recordings of caterpillar-induced depolarization waves in sieve elements using aphid electrodes.

open access: yesNew Phytologist, 2014
Plants propagate electrical signals in response to artificial wounding. However, little is known about the electrophysiological responses of the phloem to wounding, and whether natural damaging stimuli induce propagating electrical signals in this tissue.

Wearable Haptic Feedback Interfaces for Augmenting Human Touch

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The wearable haptic feedback interfaces enhance user experience in gaming, social media, biomedical instrumentation, and robotics by generating tactile sensations. This review discusses and categorizes current haptic feedback interfaces into force, thermal, and electrotactile stimulation‐based haptic feedback interfaces, elucidating their current ...

Cooperative kinetics of depolarization in CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells

open access: yes, 2015
Despite the large photovoltaic performance recently achieved, many aspects of the working principles of hybrid organic–inorganic perovskite solar cells remain to be unveiled.

Print‐and‐Plate Architected Electrodes for Electrochemical Transformations Under Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Typical flow cell electrodes are composed of stochastic porous carbon, limiting understanding of electrode structure‐performance relationships. This work describes an approach, termed “print‐and‐plate,” to prepare porous electrodes by direct ink writing followed by conformal metal coating.

Thermal relaxation of optical nonlinearity in poled glasses

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics, 2020
The thermal relaxation of second order optical nonlinearity in subsurface layer of a poled soda-lime silicate glass was studied. It is shown that the glass annealing below glass transition temperature leads to full relaxation of the nonlinearity.

Breakdown of classical electrostatics in the depolarization of quantum wires and nanotubes [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. B 96, 195441 (2017), 2017
In quantum wires, such as metallic nanotubes, the optical absorption of the transverse polarization is controlled by the depolarization effect which stems from the redistribution of conduction electrons around the circumference of the system. The traditional electrostatics treatment of the depolarization effect relies on approximating the system by a ...

Depolarizing differential Mueller matrices [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2011
The evolution of a polarized beam can be described by the differential formulation of Mueller calculus. The nondepolarizing differential Mueller matrices are well known. However, they only account for 7 out of the 16 independent parameters that are necessary to model a general anisotropic depolarizing medium.

Electric Pulse Regulated MXene Based Nanozymes for Integrative Bioelectricity Immuno‐Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXenzyme‐mediated bioelectricity cancer therapy (MXenzyme‐BECT) enhances cancer cell death through irreversible depolarization, ion channel disruption, ROS generation, and immunogenic cell death. Computational simulations reveal the electrical mechanisms by which MXenzyme acts on single cells and support to predict treatment parameters. Next‐generation

Incorporating Latent Variables Using Nonnegative Matrix Factorization Improves Risk Stratification in Brugada Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2020
Background A combination of clinical and electrocardiographic risk factors is used for risk stratification in Brugada syndrome. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that the incorporation of latent variables between variables using nonnegative matrix ...

Polarization and depolarization of monomial ideals with application to multistate system reliability [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Combinatorics (2019), 2018
We study the family of depolarizations of a squarefree monomial ideal $I$, i.e. all monomial ideals whose polarization is $I$. We describe a method to find all depolarizations of $I$ and study some of the properties they share and some they do not share.
