High-precision Measurement of Strontium and Neodymium Isotopic Composition by Multi-collector Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry with Microwave Digestion

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2018
BACKGROUND Determination of strontium (Sr) and neodymium (Nd) isotopic composition in geological samples by Multi-collector Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) needs a lengthy and complex chemical preparation procedure.

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Contaminated water flow modelling through the porous media by using fractional advection-dispersion equation (FADE)

open access: yesGeology, Ecology, and Landscapes
This study aims to evaluate the validity of Fractional Advection-Dispersion equation (FADE) in breakthrough curves in saturated homogenous soil media, i.e.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

TITANOMAGNETITE ORES: MINERAL COMPOSITION AND MÖSSBAUER SPECTROSCOPY [PDF]

open access: yesМинералогия, 2017
Chemical and mineral composition of ilmenite-titanomagnetite ores from Chiney, Sludinsky, Bystrinsky and Kruchininsky deposits (East Siberia) are studied and compared with those from the Panzhihua pluton in China using microprobe and X-ray diffraction ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...
