PWR-depressurization and its hydraulic analogy [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Design, 1978
Abstract The aim of this work is to provide an experimental verification of codes to be used for numerical simulation of the depressurization process in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) in case of a hypothetical blowdown accident. Here, the downcomer of a PWR is approximately treated as a two-dimensional plane region (unwrapped).

Microcellular Foaming of Polymethylmethacrylate in a Batch Supercritical CO2 Process: Effect of Microstructure on Compression Behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Microcellular foaming of reinforced core/ shell Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) was carried out bymeans of supercritical CO2 in a single-step process. Samples were produced using a technique based on the saturation of the polymer under high pressure of CO2(

Ferroelectric Quantum Dots for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work has provided a protocol for fabricating retinomorphic phototransistors by integrating ferroelectric ligands with quantum dots. The resulting device combines ferroelectricity, optical responsiveness, and low‐power operation to enable adaptive signal amplification and high recognition accuracy under low‐light conditions, while supporting ...

Pressure-induced enhancement of superconductivity and superconducting-superconducting transition in CaC$\_6$ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We measured the electrical resistivity, $\varrho(T)$, of superconducting CaC$\_6$ at ambient and high pressure up to 16 GPa. For $P \leq$8 GPa, we found a large increase of $T\_c$ with pressure from 11.5 up to 15.1 K.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Tri-Axial Shear Tests on Hydrate-Bearing Sediments during Hydrate Dissociation with Depressurization

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
A series of tri-axial shear tests were carried out to determine the stress and strain characteristics, as well as the volume deformation of methane hydrate-bearing sediments during gas hydrate dissociation.

Science‐Towards‐Technology Breakthrough in CO2 Electroreduction: Multiphysics, Multiscale, and Artificial Intelligence Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical CO2RR is a key technology for converting CO2 into chemicals, but there remains a gap between “laboratory science” and “engineering practice” in current research. This review establishes a multi‐scale research framework, encompassing atomic‐level characterization, microenvironment regulation, external field‐assisted optimization, and AI ...

Ultra‐Thin Soft Pneumatic Actuation for Minimally Invasive Neural Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parylene C is a common polymer in bioelectronics, favored for its biological and chemical inertness. However, this makes bonding layers of Parylene C together very challenging. Here it is a laser to selectively weld layers of Parylene C to create high‐pressure fluidic actuation devices.
