Application of a 13-gene prognostic signature for patients with PDAC.

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Kaplan-Meier overall survival of patients comprising the UVA-15 derivation set grouped by short survival time (n = 7, survival range: 2.0–9.0 mo; median: 6.1 mo) and long survival time (n = 8, survival range: 10.6–32.8 mo; median: 13.7 mo; log-rank ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Efficient Clustering of Web-Derived Data Sets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Many data sets derived from the web are large, high-dimensional, sparse and have a Zipfian distribution of both classes and features. On such data sets, current scalable clustering methods such as streaming clustering suffer from fragmentation, where large classes are incorrectly divided into many smaller clusters, and computational efficiency drops ...

Risk of in-hospital mortality for laboratory risk groups.

open access: yes, 2016
(a) Risk of in-hospital mortality in the derivation set. (b) Risk of in-hospital mortality in the validation set. Low-, moderate-, and high-risk groups have laboratory points from 0 to 2, 3 to 5, and 6 to 8, respectively.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Peano on derivative of measures: strict derivative of distributive set functions

open access: yesRendiconti Lincei, Matematica e Applicazioni, 2010
By retracing research on coexistent magnitudes ( grandeurs coexistantes ) by Cauchy [9, (1841)], Peano in Applicazioni geometriche del calcolo infinitesimale [48, (1887)] defines the "density" (strict derivative ...
