Exact One-Loop Thermal Free Energies of Solitons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
I show how to compute the exact one-loop thermal correction to the free energy of a soliton. The method uses the effective potential as an auxiliary step to ensure that the soliton is quantized around the appropriate vacuum.

SEMI-LOCAL CONVERGENCE OF A DERIVATIVE-FREEMETHOD FOR SOLVING EQUATIONS

open access: yesПроблемы анализа, 2021
We present the semi-local convergence analysis of atwo-step derivative-free method for solving Banach space valuedequations. The convergence criteria are based only on the firstderivative and our idea of recurrent functions.

Temperature Accelerated Monte Carlo (TAMC): a method for sampling the free energy surface of non-analytical collective variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We introduce a new method to simulate the physics of rare events. The method, an extension of the Temperature Accelerated Molecular Dynamics, comes in use when the collective variables introduced to characterize the rare events are either non-analytical ...

Semi-Local Convergence of Two Derivative-Free Methods of Order Six for Solving Equations under the Same Conditions

open access: yesFoundations, 2022
We propose the semi-local convergence of two derivative-free, competing methods of order six to address non-linear equations. The sufficient convergence criteria are the same, making a direct comparison between them possible.

Multi-step derivative-free preconditioned Newton method for solving systems of nonlinear equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Preconditioning of systems of nonlinear equations modifies the associated Jacobian and provides rapid convergence. The preconditioners are introduced in a way that they do not affect the convergence order of parent iterative method.

A regularizing iterative ensemble Kalman method for PDE-constrained inverse problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We introduce a derivative-free computational framework for approximating solutions to nonlinear PDE-constrained inverse problems. The aim is to merge ideas from iterative regularization with ensemble Kalman methods from Bayesian inference to develop a ...

Local convergence for composite Chebyshev-type methods

open access: yesCommunications in Advanced Mathematical Sciences, 2018
We replace Chebyshev's method for solving equations requiring the second derivative by a Chebyshev-type second derivative free method. The local convergence analysis of the new method is provided using hypotheses only on the first derivative in contrast ...
