The connection between Jackson and Hausdorff derivatives in the context of generalized statistical mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In literature one can find many generalizations of the usual Leibniz derivative, such as Jackson derivative, Tsallis derivative and Hausdorff derivative. In this article we present a connection between Jackson derivative and recently proposed Hausdorff derivative. On one hand, the Hausdorff derivative has been previously associated with non-extensivity

Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Noether identities in Einstein--Dirac theory and the Lie derivative of spinor fields

open access: yes, 2008
We characterize the Lie derivative of spinor fields from a variational point of view by resorting to the theory of the Lie derivative of sections of gauge-natural bundles.

Ion channel function of polycystin‐2/polycystin‐1 heteromer revealed by structure‐guided mutagenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutations in polycystin‐1 (PC1) or polycystin‐2 (PC2) cause autosomal‐dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). We generated a novel gain‐of‐function PC2/PC1 heteromeric ion channel by mutating pore‐blocking residues. Moreover, we demonstrated that PC2 will preferentially assemble with PC1 to form heteromeric complexes when PC1 is co‐expressed ...

Left-symmetric algebras of derivations of free algebras [PDF]

open access: yesComm. Algebra 45 (2017), no. 7, 2809--2820, 2014
A structure of a left-symmetric algebra on the set of all derivations of a free algebra is introduced such that its commutator algebra becomes the usual Lie algebra of derivations. Left and right nilpotent elements of left-symmetric algebras of derivations are studied.

Decoding the dual role of autophagy in cancer through transcriptional and epigenetic regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls autophagy, which exerts context‐dependent effects on cancer: Autophagy suppresses tumorigenesis by maintaining cellular homeostasis or promotes tumor progression by supporting survival under stress. In this “In a Nutshell” article, we explore the intricate mechanisms of the dual function of autophagy ...

Ascorbyl palmitate-incorporated paclitaxel-loaded composite nanoparticles for synergistic anti-tumoral therapy

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2017
A co-loaded drug delivery system based on ascorbyl palmitate that can transport various functional drugs to their targets within a tumor represents an attractive strategy for increasing the efficiency of anticancer treatment.
