Dermal and epidermal cell functions in the growth and regeneration of hair follicles and other skin appendages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Epithelial-mesenchymal interactions are central to the development of skin and skin appendages in vertebrates. These interactions continue throughout adult life and underpin the cyclic growth and loss of hair in mammals. While the molecular basis of such

Engineering Pluripotent Stem Cells‐Derived Inner Ear Organoids With Enhanced Maturation and Reproducibility by Micro‐Topographical Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐topographical cues applied through temporally controlled microscale confinement improve the reproducibility, spatial organization, and neurosensory‐associated features of pluripotent stem cell‐derived inner ear organoids. Integration with a vascularized organoid platform further enables controlled investigation of vascular‐epithelial interactions

A Long-Lasting Triamcinolone-Loaded Microneedle Patch for Prolonged Dermal Delivery

open access: yesIranian Journal of Pharmaceutical Research
Background: Scar is an unpleasant skin lesion that occurs following deep wounds or burns. The application of local triamcinolone is a common treatment for scar treatment and prevention, which should be repeated several times in conventional dosage forms.

Elastomeric 3D‐Printed Microenvironments Enable Nanonewton Force Measurements in Healthy and Diseased Human Pluripotent Stem Cell‐Derived Neuroepithelial Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present elastomeric three‐dimensional (3D) microstructures fabricated via two‐photon polymerization (2PP) and post‐processed through wet etching, for quantifying nanonewton (nN)‐scale forces applied by healthy and diseased neural cells. The mechanically characterized free‐standing beam architectures enable measurement of traction forces of ...

Gauging the safety and efficacy of nitroglycerine used transdermally as a tocolytic agent in females with preterm labor

open access: yesMuller Journal of Medical Sciences and Research
Background: Preterm labor is the primary challenge in prenatal health care, leading to a high rate of mortality. As a result, in pregnant women with preterm labor, we use nitroglycerine transdermally as a tocolytic agent. The main objective of this study

Preparation and Characterization of Electrospun Ketoconazole Loaded Nanofibers as Dermal Patch

open access: yesJournal of Contemporary Medical Sciences
Objective: This study aims to formulate a ketoconazole patch containing electrospun nanofibres and enhance the solubility due to theincreased particle surface using the electrospinning method. Methods: The Design-Expert version13 software was used in experimental designing, to ensure an efficient nanofiber preparation process.

Wearable Morphology‐Adaptive in‐Ear Device With Active Cleansing Capability for Multimodal Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We present SCIENCE, an in‐ear multimodal physiological monitor featuring two key innovations. Water‐triggered morphological expansion (a 2‐mm cylinder to a 9‐mm spindle) achieves conformal adaptation across complex canal geometries. Simultaneously, active biofouling mitigation disrupts cerumen barriers, reducing sensor‐skin impedance by 20%.

Enhanced Structural Outcomes With Acellular Dermal Matrix Patch Augmentation Versus Single-Row Repair in Large-to-Massive Rotator Cuff Tears: A Propensity Score–Matched Analysis

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine
Background: Although acellular dermal matrix (ADM) patch augmentation is known to reduce retear rates compared with repair without augmentation, clinical outcomes have varied across previous studies due to cohort heterogeneity.

Conformal Thermoreversible Gelatin‐Based Gel for High‐Fidelity Electrophysiological Recording and Acute Peripheral Nerve Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoreversible gelatin‐based gel forms a soft, conformal bioelectronic interface on complex biological surfaces. The flowable precursor penetrates hair‐dense regions, solidifies in situ, and maintains low impedance through adaptive contact and hydration retention.
