IgE Responsiveness to Dermatophagoides farinae in Asthma and Atopic Dermatitis
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 2009Using Western blotting and RAST, this study examined IgE reactivities to Dermatophagoides farinae (Df) extract in three groups of children with either asthma, atopic dermatitis (AD) or a combination of both. The Df antigen presented at least nine distinct IgE-binding bands, with apparent molecular weights of 15, 25, 30, 40, 48, 59, 67, 80 and 110 kD ...

Isolation and Characterization of Two Allergens from Dermatophagoides farinae
International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology, 2009Two purified allergens, designated as DF1 and DF2, were isolated from the extract of the whole culture of Dermatophagoides farinae by a combination of ammonium sulfate precipitation and ion exchange, hydrophobic, chelate and gel chromatography. DF1 was isolated as a heat-sensitive acidic protein with an apparent molecular weight of 25,000 and an ...

Dermatophagoides-farinae-Induced Pulmonary Eosinophilic Inflammation in Mice
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, 2009Dermatophagoides farinae (Der f) is one of the most common species of dust mites that induce asthma and allergic rhinitis. We have reported that Der f challenge on sensitized mice elicited a distinct type of hypersensitivity, called early-type hypersensitivity (ETH), in subcutaneous tissues and in airways.

Abstract Internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS), as a molecular marker, has become an effective means to study the genetic relationships of species. A pair of ITS2 gene sequence primers is designed with Genbank database as reference in the study. ITS2 cDNA is amplified through nested PCR and cloned into plasmid pMD19-T.

Characterization of the Allergenic Components of the House Dust Mite, Dermatophagoides farinae
International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology, 2009Characterization and purification of the allergenic components of the house dust mite, Dermatophagoides farinae, were investigated. It was found that the mite antigen was heat-stable, pronase-sensitive, and periodate-resistant, which suggested that the antigenic determinants of the mite antigen resided mainly in the protein component.

Isolation of Cysteine Protease in the Crude Mite Extract, Dermatophagoides farinae
International Archives of Allergy and Applied Immunology, 2009In order to study the relationship between cysteine protease and Der f l, which is one of the major allergens in the mite, Dermatophagoides farinae, isolation of cysteine protease was attempted using various column chromatographies. Both the potent cysteine protease activity and the allergenic activity were detected in the same fractions by anion ...

Nonimmunologic activity of Dermatophagoides farinae extract.
Annals of allergy, 1985Nine healthy and seven mite-sensitive allergic subjects were examined by skin sensitivity and IgE antibody to fractions from Dermatophagoides farinae, including high and low allergenic fraction to human. In the intracutaneous test, all healthy subjects reacted to 200 ng and in particular, five of them to 0.2 ng of Fr void on Sephadex G-100 filtration ...

Dermatophagoides farinae (D.F.) is considered by many to be one of the main allergens in house dust. The present report is a four-year study with an extract of D.F. in 518 patients with extrinsic asthma. The extract was clinically effective in 315 out of 474 patients (66.5%) after the first course of therapy (20 weeks).
