The staphylococcal α-hemolysin is critical for the pathogenesis of Staphylococcus aureus skin and soft tissue infection. Vaccine and infection-elicited α-hemolysin-specific antibodies protect against S. aureus‒induced dermonecrosis, a key feature of skin and soft tissue infection.

Severe Thrombocytopenia and Dermonecrosis after Loxosceles Spider Bite in a 3-Year-Old Child
The Journal of Pediatrics, 20133-year-old girl was admitted for sudden onset of 12 hours of high fever, vomiting, malaise, and skin rash the day prior to admission, with no history of trauma or drugs. The patient showed a petechial and morbilliform rash, swelling, redness and a dry dark blue-purple lesion on the right big toe (Figure). Blood tests showed thrombocytopenia (18 10 9 /L)

It is well known that snake venoms such as Viperidae caused severe local effects such as hemorrhage, myonecrosis and dermonecrosis which can lead to permanent tissue loss or the disability. The aim of this study is to evaluate the skin regeneration using heparin and l-arginine as well as the dermonecrotic effects induced by Vipera lebetina venom (VLV).

High throughput drug discovery towards novel therapeutics for snakebite dermonecrosis
2023Snakebite envenomation is a neglected tropical disease that kills over 100,000 people per year and injures more than 400,000. Brazil suffers more than 26,000 snakebites per year. It is estimated that 90% of all snakebite accidents in the Amazon region are caused by Bothrops species pit vipers.

[Enzootic dermonecrosis in chickens].
Veterinarno-meditsinski nauki, 1976An enzootic of necrotic dermatosis in hen layers was described. The changes consisted in that they had constant localization and demarkated sites on the skin between the back and the neck. The disease was observed on a farm for 5000 layers in the course of two consecutive years.

Escherichia coli cytotoxic necrotizing factors (CNFs) and Bordetella dermonecrotic toxin (DNT) have been recently found to comprise a novel family of dermonecrosis-inducing toxins which activate the small GTPases of the Rho family. They are single chain polypeptides consisting of an N-terminal domain responsible for binding to target cells and a C ...

Envenomation caused by spiders Loxosceles induce intense dermonecrosis at the bite site and systemic disease. In this work we described the hyaluronidase and collagenase activities in vitro of the Loxosceles intermedia venom, but no phospholipase A2 activity. In vivo, we evaluated the effect of L. intermedia venom used different strain of mice, C57BL/6,

Spider Bite Dermonecrosis: A Review of Loxoscelism
Journal of Surgery Research and PracticeLoxoscelism is the clinical condition caused by the bite of spiders belonging to the genus Loxosceles and is the only verified arachnological cause of dermonecrosis worldwide. More than 150 different species of this spider genus have been described, being Loxosceles laeta the only recognized cause of Loxoscelism in Chile.

Immunology, 1975
Mice were protected against the dermonecrotic effects of Staphylococcus aureus by previous infection with either coagulase-positive or coagulase-negative strains or by immunization with alpha-toxin. Passive protection was conferred by serum from previously infected mice or by alpha-antitoxin.
