Abstract Background Inpatients with diabetes have higher early unplanned readmission (EUR) rates. Diabetes management team (DMT) review reduces EUR. While glucose‐based patient selection for DMT reduces in‐hospital adverse outcomes, this single criterion is a suboptimal predictor of EUR.
