A Pilot and Feasibility Study of a Four‐Stage Neurological Staging Framework in Pediatric Tracheal Extubation During Anesthesia Emergence

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Postoperative tracheal extubation is a particularly high‐risk period in pediatric anesthesia. Because emergence from anesthesia is a complex and complicated process, determining the optimal timing for safe tracheal extubation remains challenging.

Current Use, Monitoring and Reversal of Neuromuscular Block in Pediatric Anesthesia and Intensive Care: A Web‐Based Cross‐Sectional ESAIC Survey

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromuscular blocking agents are recommended by the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (ESAIC) and European Society of Paediatric Anaesthesia (ESPA) for facilitating tracheal intubation in children. Despite these recommendations, real‐world data on how neuromuscular blocking agents are used, monitored, and ...

A Sedation Protocol for Endoscopic Baton‐Plate Adjustment in Neonates With Pierre Robin Sequence

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Robin sequence (RS) is characterized by upper airway obstruction leading to life‐threatening desaturations in neonates. Procedural sedation in this population presents unique challenges due to anatomical airway anomalies, young patient age, and associated comorbidities.

Continuous Respiratory Oscillometry in Pediatric Laparoscopic Surgery—The COMET Study

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Laparoscopic appendectomy is the accepted surgical approach for appendicitis in centers worldwide. Laparoscopic surgery requires the creation of a pneumoperitoneum to facilitate surgical access. Laparoscopic surgery affects the respiratory mechanics of patients under general anesthesia.

Integrating Synchronized Nasal Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation With Less‐Invasive Surfactant Administration: Current Evidence and Evolving Practice in Preterm Neonatal Care

open access: yesPediatric Discovery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to summarize current evidence on the combined use of synchronized nasal intermittent positive pressure ventilation (sNIPPV) and less‐invasive surfactant administration (LISA) in the management of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in preterm infants.

In planta analysis of the mode of action of cinmethylin and confirmation of fatty acyl‐ACP thioesterases (FATs) as primary site of action

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
In planta analysis of the mode of action of cinmethylin and confirmation of fatty acyl‐ACP thioesterases (FATs) as primary site of action. Cinmethylin inhibits FATs, disrupting eukaryotic de novo lipid biosynthesis and causing defects in cell division, elongation and integrity. We confirm FATs as the primary site of action in planta.

High‐Flow Nasal Oxygen in Early Home Pulmonary Rehabilitation for Exertional Hypoxaemia: A Pilot Randomised Feasibility Trial

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Summary This pilot randomised feasibility trial evaluated the feasibility and acceptability of early, intensive home‐based pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) and high‐flow nasal oxygen (HFO) during exercise in patients with exertional hypoxaemia post‐hospitalisation. Early home‐based PR was feasible and safe.

Safety and Efficacy of Direct Cryobiopsy Specimen Retrieval Through the 3.0‐mm Working Channel of a Therapeutic Bronchoscope Using a 1.1‐mm Cryoprobe: A Multicentre Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Safety and efficacy of direct 1.1‐mm cryobiopsy specimen retrieval through a 3.0‐mm therapeutic bronchoscope channel were evaluated. The technique achieved 87.5% overall diagnostic yield, produced specimens three times larger than forceps biopsy, and caused Grade 3 bleeding in only 2.1%.
