En quoi la crise des fondements des mathématiques est-elle terminée ?

open access: yesPhilosophia Scientiæ, 2005
The « crisis in the foundations of mathematics » (1902-1931) contributed to the advent of an axiomatic set-theoretic paradigm in terms of which the pressing questions of « Foundations of Mathematics » are still treated.

4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase in malaria parasites and enhances atovaquone efficacy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Atovaquone is an antimalarial requiring potentiation for sufficient efficacy. We pursued strategies to enhance its activity, showing that 4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase, decreasing ubiquinone biosynthesis. Since atovaquone competes with ubiquinol in mitochondria, 4‐nitrobenzoate facilitates its action, potentiating ...

Mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation is stimulated by red light irradiation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Light at different wavelengths has distinct effects on keratinocyte viability and metabolism. UVA light abrogates metabolic fluxes. Blue and green light have no effect on metabolic fluxes, while red light enhanced oxidative phosphorylation by promoting fatty acid oxidation. Keratinocytes are the primary constituents of sunlight‐exposed epidermis.

THE USE OF COMPLEXITY HIERARCHIES IN DESCRIPTIVE SET THEORY AND AUTOMATA THEORY

open access: yesTASK Quarterly, 2005
The concept of a reduction between subsets of a given space is described, giving rise to various complexity hierarchies, studied both in descriptive set theory and in automata theory.

The descriptive theory of represented spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This is a survey on the ongoing development of a descriptive theory of represented spaces, which is intended as an extension of both classical and effective descriptive set theory to deal with both sets and functions between represented spaces.

Classical descriptive set theory as a refinement of effective descriptive set theory

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 2010
Abstract The (effective) Suslin–Kleene Theorem is obtained as a corollary of a standard proof of the classical Suslin Theorem, by noticing that it is mostly constructive and applying to it a naive realizability interpretation.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

The IQ‐compete assay for measuring mitochondrial protein import efficiencies in living yeast cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The efficiency of mitochondrial protein import depends on the properties of the newly synthesized precursor proteins. The Import and de‐Quenching Competition (IQ‐compete) assay is a novel method to monitor the import efficiency of different proteins by fluorescence in living yeast cells.

Targeting EZH2 reverses thyroid cell dedifferentiation and enhances iodide uptake in anaplastic thyroid cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) lacks iodide uptake ability due to MAPK activation increasing the expression of the histone methyltransferase EZH2, which represses thyroid differentiation genes (TDGs) such as the sodium iodide symporter (NIS). Dual inhibition of MAPK (U0126) and EZH2 (EPZ6438/Tazemetostat) reverses this mechanism, thus restoring TDG ...
