A new method for desiccant package quality check

open access: yes, 2017
The desiccant is widely used and plays an important role in the daily life and industrial manufacturing. Ironically its package quality check is still a challenging issue. In this paper we present a new method for desiccant package quality check. First,

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Modeling and Simulation of a Desiccant Assisted Brayton Refrigeration Cycle

open access: yes, 2012
The phase-out of CFCs has shed a new light over natural refrigerants, which have null global warming potentials. Air would be a natural choice, and although the Brayton cycle usually exhibits a lower coefficient of performance when compared to vapor ...

Experimental study of a membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidifier based on internal air temperature variation

open access: yes, 2019
A membrane-based liquid desiccant dehumidifier with the separated air stream and liquid desiccant channels has the ability to solve its working fluid carryover problem in the traditional direct contact system.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Investigation on Bacterial Desiccation*

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1955
The work of Norton and Novy (1, 2), and especially the conclusive investi-v gations of Pillsbury and Rebell (3), experimentally established the major role of desiccation in the mechanism of bacterial disappearance. According to * Pillsbury and associates the disappearance of various bacteria placed on healthy skin or glass surfaces is almost complete ...

Design of Divided Condensers for Desiccant Wheel-Assisted Separate Sensible and Latent Cooling AC Systems

open access: yes, 2012
A desiccant wheel-assisted separate sensible and latent cooling air-conditioning system improves the energy efficiency of conventional air-conditioning systems by increasing the evaporating temperature of the refrigerant for sensible cooling.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...
