Design Entrepreneurship in Product Design Education

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2012
AbstractDesign entrepreneurship is about producing and marketing the intellectual properties of a viable concept in terms assuming risks, financing and managing. So this study is about a discussion on building entrepreneurship skills in design education.

A model of active student participation in curriculum design: exploring desirability and possibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper explores the desirability and possibility of active student participation (ASP) in curriculum design. Rationales for pursuing ASP in curriculum design are outlined.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Embedding sustainability in design education: the case of design project on systemic changes for sustainable businesses based on upcycling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Sustainable design education has become a prevalent practice in design education. Ramirez’s (2007) worldwide survey shows that the majority of the programmes have either compulsory or optional modules on sustainable design.

Experimental Design: Design Experimentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper was selected for publication in MIT’s Design Issues. The research takes an original approach by positioning experimentation as a comprehensive design methodology, rather than using the traditional industrial design approach of employing ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Integrating image-generative AI into conceptual design in computer-aided design education: Exploring student perceptions, prompt behaviors, and artifact creativity

open access: yesEducational Technology & Society
Although image-generative AI (GAI) has sparked heated discussion among engineers and designers, its role in CAD (computer-aided design) education, particularly during the conceptual design phase, remains not sufficiently explored.

Product design as a vehicle to integrate arts and sciences in design education [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In many parts of the world, Higher Education has often considered arts and sciences as an odd combination and many institutions have avoided this particular mix. Historically, this has been the accepted view; however, this view is changing.
