Some azine and azole derivatives as antioxidant additives for lithium lubricating grease

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Petroleum, 2013
Lubricating greases undergo extensive deterioration under the operation conditions and storage. Hydrocarbon chain is one of the major factors resulting in loss of the base fluid quality by formation of products having negative effects on the ...

Scrutinizing design educators' perceptions of the design process

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, 2010
AbstractWhen developing a better understanding of the design process there are several possible approaches to choose from. Many studies are based on novice designers (e.g., students) or designers of relatively modest talents. By contrast, some studies have queried designers who are considered to have outstanding and exceptional ability in order to gain

Automating the design process: a design process model implementation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of AUTOTESTCON '94, 2002
In 1990, Andrzej Wnuk of Siemens A.G. proposed a comprehensive model of the system design process. The model combines an extended design AND/OR decision tree, aspects of the design process for the High Level Design Assistant (HILDA) developed by Siemens Research and Technology Laboratory, structured requirements, and process decomposition.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

The effect of voltage on accuracy in electrochemical micromachining under two-tone sinusoidal signal

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications
Electrochemical micromachining (ECMM) is a non-traditional technology in the field of machining, which has excellent machining quality. Ultra short pulse power supply is widely used in electrochemical micro machining, and shortening the pulse width is ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

An engineering design knowledge reuse methodology using process modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes an approach for reusing engineering design knowledge. Many previous design knowledge reuse systems focus exclusively on geometrical data, which is often not applicable in early design stages.
