Desmoplastic Melanoma

The American Surgeon, 2001
Desmoplastic melanoma is an uncommonly encountered variant of malignant melanoma. Three histological subtypes exist: desmoplastic, neurotropic, and neural transforming. Desmoplastic melanoma commonly presents in conjunction with existing melanocytic lesions or as an amelanotic firm nodule. Local recurrences are common.

Desmoplastic trichoepithelioma

Cancer, 1977
Fifty examples of a distinctive clinicopathologic entity occurred in 49 patients who ranged in age from 8 to 70 (median 46) years. Forty-nine tumors were on the face, mainly the cheek, chin and forehead; most were present one to five years, and 85% of the patients were female.

Desmoplastic Melanomar

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1994
Desmoplastic melanoma is an uncommon type of malignant melanoma that has a predilection for the skin of the head and neck. Because of a progressive metaplasia of melanocytes and an accompanying desmoplasia, the neoplasm can be mistaken for benign or malignant soft tissue lesions.

Desmoplastic Melanoma

Clinics in Laboratory Medicine, 2009
Desmoplastic melanoma (DM) is a variant of spindle cell melanoma characterized by the presence of abundant fibrous matrix. It is typically found in the head and neck region on chronically sun-damaged skin of older individuals. Early detection is uncommon, because its clinical features are not distinctive. DM is prone to misdiagnosis not only clinically

Desmoplastic Seborrheic Keratosis

The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 2003
Eleven cases of seborrheic keratoses with desmoplastic stroma and associated nests and cords of squamous epithelium simulating infiltrating carcinoma are presented. There were 7 males and 4 females ranging in age from 44 to 88 years (mean = 62). Eight cases were on the head and neck, one each on the lower and upper extremity, and one on the pubic area.

Desmoplastic neurotropic melanoma

Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, 1997
Desmoplastic neurotropic melanoma (DNM) is a rare variant of a spindle cell melanoma. The majority of these tumors occur on the head and neck of elderly patients. The rather variable clinical appearance (e.g. frequent lack of pigmentation) makes initial diagnosis often difficult. Histologically, DNM may show a lentiginous melanocytic proliferation with

Desmoplastic Malignant Mesothelioma

Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology, 2013
Desmoplastic mesothelioma is a rare subtype of diffuse malignant mesothelioma. A 72-year-old woman from East Anatolia presented with chest pain. Desmoplastic malignant melanoma

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1995
Desmoplastic malignant melanoma (DMM) is an uncommon variant of malignant melanoma and often is difficult to diagnose. Because of the relative rarity of this tumor, it has not been well studied and controversy remains concerning its biologic potential. We compared survival rates of DMM with those of other malignant melanomas and determined what clinical

Recurrent desmoplastic fibroma

International Journal of Oral Surgery, 1976
Two cases of recurrent desmoplastic fibroma are reported and the relevant literature reviewed. In both cases the original lesion was incompletely removed more than 10 years previously and the slow but aggressive spread of the recurrences is documented.
