Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Prevalence and macrolide resistance of Mycoplasma genitalium from patients seeking sexual health care in Southern Ghana

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases
Background Mycoplasma genitalium (MG), a sexually transmitted infection (STI), has emerged as a common cause of non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis worldwide, with documented resistance to commonly used antibiotics including doxycycline and ...

Do Older Teachers Benefit More From Workday Break Recovery Than Younger Ones?

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, 2019
Age has not received much attention in research on work stress recovery. The present study addressed this research gap by studying whether age moderates the relationship between recovery experiences (detachment from work and relaxation) during workday ...

Perceived Community Cohesion and the Stress Process in Youth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Using survey data from two youth samples, one rural and one urban, we examine the role and significance of perceived community cohesion in the stress process. In particular, we assess the extent to which community attachment and detachment are related to

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Reactivity of hydrated hydroxide anion cluster OH(H$_{2}$O)$_{n}^{-}$ with H and Rb: an ab initio study

open access: yes, 2019
We present a theoretical investigation of the hydrated hydroxide anion clusters OH(H$_{2}$O)$_{n}^{-}$ and of the collisional complexes H-OH(H$_{2}$O)$_{n}^{-}$ and Rb-OH(H$_{2}$O)$_{n}^{-}$ (with n$=1-4$).

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

The possibilities of increasing the reliability and durability of a cylindrical group by technological methods

open access: yesTrudy Odesskogo Politehničeskogo Universiteta, 2018
The possibilities of increasing the reliability and durability of a cylindrical group by technological methods, in particular, the use of coatings from wear-resistant materials on the working surfaces of cylinders are considered.

Abrupt Bulla Formation by Visceral Pleural Detachment after Pulmonary Lobectomy: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Chest Surgery, 2023
Pulmonary bullae usually grow slowly and have thin walls. However, we have observed 2 cases of abrupt bulla formation immediately after lobectomy and during surgery.

The effect of surface roughness on the adhesion of elastic solids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study the influence of surface roughness on the adhesion of elastic solids. Most real surfaces have roughness on many different length scales, and this fact is taken into account in our analysis.
