Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Detection of zinc in pig feed based on the cavities of different shapes combined with LIBS

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications
Considering the serious risks posed by the heavy metals present in pig diets, monitoring and controlling the amount of these metals is crucial. The laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) is a promising technique for performing elemental analysis due

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

Low detection limit spectrophotometry

open access: yesAnalytica Chimica Acta, 2004
Abstract An efficient, more sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric process is possible and can be used to obtain qualitative or quantitative results for analytes at limiting concentrations lower than usual. Transmission measurements (incident light power, P0, or transmitted, P) are performed with a fluorescence spectrometer.

Supersymmetric Sub-Electroweak Scale Dark Matter, the Galactic Center Gamma-ray Excess, and Exotic Decays of the 125 GeV Higgs Boson

open access: yes, 2014
We continue our exploration of the nearly Peccei-Quinn symmetric limit shared by common singlet extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. This limit has been established as a viable framework for studying sub-electroweak scale dark matter ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

A note on the measurement of phase space observables with an eight-port homodyne detector

open access: yes, 2007
It is well known that the Husimi Q-function of the signal field can actually be measured by the eight-port homodyne detection technique, provided that the reference beam (used for homodyne detection) is a very strong coherent field so that it can be ...
